Getting remarried may be out of the question for one spouse, and happen practically overnight for the other. I’m sure you would never want to hear for the first time that your ex is getting remarried from your child, and not from directly your ex, or at least another reliable source.

Don’t put your children up to this task, making them messengers between parents and ex-spouses. Your children are not any part of "the grapevine." This will only generate or revives resentment between you two. Ann Blumenthal Jacobs, et al, offer some great insights as to how to manage the news.
